Alec Debnam

Alexander 'Alec' Frederick Henry Debnam (12 October 1921 – 26 January 2003) was an English cricketer. Debnam was a right-handed batsman who bowled leg-break googly.
Debnam made his first-class debut for Kent against Sussex in the 1948 County Championship. From 1949 to 1949, Debnam represented Kent eleven times, with his final first-class appearance for the county coming against Somerset.
In Debnam's eleven matches for the county he scored 88 runs at a batting average of 7.33 and a high score of 21. With the ball Debnam took 16 wickets at a bowling average of 41.81, with best figures of 5/87 against Gloucestershire in 1949. This was Debnam's only five wicket haul.
In 1950 Debnam joined Hampshire, making his debut against Yorkshire. Debnam represented Hampshire in ten first-class matches, with his final appearance for the county coming in 1951 against Lancashire.
In his ten first-class matches for Hampshire, Debnam scored 239 runs at a batting average of 15.93, with a single half century against Cambridge University in 1951 which yielded Debnam his highest first-class score of 64. With the ball he took 4 wickets for Hampshire at a bowling average of 48.25, with best figures of 1/2.
After his first-class career, Debnam joined the Royal Air Force. Debnam died at Newcastle upon Tyne, Northumberland on 26 January 2003.
