Alan Roy Katritzky FRS (18 August 1928 – 10 February 2014) was a British-born American chemist, latterly working at the University of Florida.
Education
Alan Katritzky gained both his BA and DPhil from St Catherine's College, Oxford and PhD from Trinity Hall, Cambridge.
Career
Katritzky moved to Cambridge in 1959 to be a postdoctoral research fellow. From 1960 to 1963 he was a founding Fellow and Director of Studies at Churchill College, Cambridge.
He became professor at the University of East Anglia in 1963. In 1980 he moved to the University of Florida, where he ran a research group of some 40 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows working on synthetic methods, QSPR (quantitative structure–property relationships) and other topics.
Awards and honours
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 1980.
