Biography
Chizen Akanuma (Japanese: 赤沼 智善, Hepburn: Akanuma Chikuzen, August 25, 1884 – November 30, 1938) was a Japanese Buddhist scholar and a professor of Otani University who specialized in pre-sectarian Buddhism.
Life
- 1884 - Born in Nagaoka city, Niigata Prefecture
- 1909 - attended Yamabe training at a private school operated by Shin Buddhism
- 1919 - was appointed professor of Shinshu University and gave lectures on pre-sectarian Buddhism and Pali language.
- 1933 - Department of Otani University Faculty Professor, held Pre-sectarian Buddhist Course and Pali Language Course.
- 1937 - died at his home
