AJ Lambert (born May 22, 1974) is an American singer, bassist, and musician. She is the first daughter of singer Nancy Sinatra and Hugh Lambert.
Life and career
AJ Lambert was born Angela Jennifer Lambert on May 22, 1974, in Los Angeles, California, to Nancy Sinatra and her second husband Hugh Lambert. She is also the granddaughter of singer Frank Sinatra and Nancy Barbato Sinatra and the niece of Tina Sinatra and Frank Sinatra Jr.
Her godfather is actor James Darren.
Lambert received piano lessons and in 1996, successfully completed her university studies.
She has acted as a music supervisor on several films. She also organizes concert programs featuring songs by her grandfather Frank Sinatra, accompanied by pianist John Boswell.
In her early musical career, Lambert was a bassist in various bands, including Here We Go Magic and a reunion of seminal punk icons The Homosexuals. She turned to singing when she was in her 40s and has released two albums so far. In October 2018, she released EP Lonely Songs, featuring four songs by Frank Sinatra—"It's a Lonesome Old Town," "Only the Lonely," "Lush Life," and "Willow Weep for Me." The album, featuring Greg Ahee of Protomartyr, was a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sinatra's album "Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely."
A few months later, in January 2019, Lambert released her first full-length solo LP Careful You on Alpha Pup Records. The album contains cover versions of songs from many famed musicians including John Cale, Carl Sigman, Robert Maxwell, Chris Bell, and Britt Daniel. It was recorded and produced by Lambert with Daniel Schlett (The War on Drugs, Amen Dunes) and Boshra AlSaadi (TEEN, Ahmed Janka Nabay). The record was a critical success in both the UK and the US. Lambert also directed two videos for the album.
Lambert has also worked in Hollywood, providing music as music supervisor for such movies as Kris Isacsson's 2000 comedy Down to You, Bob Gale's Interstate 60: Episodes of the Road (2002), Lee Daniels' Shadowboxer (2005), Aaron Woodley's Tennessee (2008), and Heidi Saman's Namour (2016).
In 2006, Lambert co-hosted with Air Supply an infomercial for TimeLife's "Classic Soft Rock" music collection. She also hosts Third Generation on Sirius XM's "Siriusly Sinatra."
Personal life
Lambert is married to John Paparazzi. They have a daughter, Miranda Vega Paparazzi (born May 26, 2013).
