Quick Facts
Biography
Ai Mori (森 秋彩, Mori Ai, born September 17, 2003) is a Japanese professional rock climber, sport climber and boulderer. She participates in both bouldering, lead and combined climbing competitions. She is known for being the youngest Japanese person ever to finish on the podium at the sport climbing world championships.
Climbing career
In 2018, 14 years old, she won the Japanese Lead Climbing Championship and placed second at the Bouldering Japan Cup in Tokyo.
Mori made her debut at the international senior level in 2019. She managed to win both a bronze medal in lead climbing and bouldering in the Climbing World Cups. Later that year, in the World Championships, she also managed to place third in the category lead. Being 15 years old at the time, this made her the youngest Japanese climber to stand on a world championship podium. Akiyo Noguchi previously held that record with her 2005 bronze medal in lead climbing, which she won while being 16 years old.
