Biography

Ahron Young is an Australian journalist currently serving as the Melbourne bureau chief and anchor for Sky News Australia.
Young joined Sky News Australia in 2006 as a reporter, before moving to sister channel Sky News Business upon its launch in 2008. He then moved back to the news channel, becoming the bureau chief of Melbourne managing 12 staff. In this role, he has also hosted his own program The Melbourne Report and "Victorian Agenda".
Young and Celina Edmonds host the annual Sky News New Year's Eve celebrations from Melbourne and Sydney. Young also anchors news programs from Melbourne and the Sky News Centre, including Newsday, Newsnight and National News.
Young has toured Afghanistan, reporting on the withdrawal of Australian troops, and reported from north Queensland as Cyclone Yasi made landfall. In 2012, Ahron reported from Bali on the 10th anniversary of the Bali bombings. In December 2014, Ahron anchored First Edition live from Cairns, in the aftermath of Australia’s worst domestic tragedy - the murder of eight young children.
In April 2015, Young reported on the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign from Anzac Cove on the Gallipoli peninsula, including the Dawn Service and the memorial at Lone Pine.
Young has previously worked for the Southern Peninsula Local Newspaper, 3AW, Sky News UK and was one of the founding anchors on Russia Today.
In 2004/05, Young reported on the Asian Tsunami from Patong beach in Thailand, before moving to London to become European correspondent for Southern Cross Radio. He reported on the death of Pope John Paul II from Rome, as well as the election of the new Pope Benedict, and was the first Australian journalist on the scene of the London bombings, reporting live for Sky News Australia and Southern Cross Radio stations.
In 2013, Young won the ASTRA Award for Most Outstanding Broadcast Journalist, and was nominated again in 2014 and 2015, losing to colleague David Speers both times.
In 2011, Young reported on the Qantas grounding from Melbourne airport and throughout the two night Fair Work hearings. The coverage was nominated for a TV Week Logie award in 2012.
On 12 June 2014, then Premier of Victoria Denis Napthine sang Happy Birthday to Young during a live interview.
In season three of the Foxtel TV show Wentworth, Young presented a news bulletin in two episodes.
