Adrian Ruiz (born November 17, 1937) is an American pianist and music educator.
Life and career
Adrian Ruiz was born on November 17, 1937, in Los Angeles, California. He holds an artist diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He then attended the University of Southern California School of Music where he studied with pianist Lillian Steuber, graduating with his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music. Over the years, Ruiz studied with such famed pianists and musicians as Rudolf Serkin, Mieczysław Horszowski, Amparo Iturbi, Ethel Leginskaand Lillian Steuber.
Ruiz has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Marlboro Festival Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony, the Austin Symphony, the SODRE Symphony, the Hadyn-Trento Symphony, and the DEBUT Orchestra.
For many years, he was the chairman of the Keyboard Studies Department of the University of Southern California School of Music and was particularly committed to little-known or forgotten works of German Romanticism. He also served on the Piano Faculty at California State University, Northridge.
In his music career, he has toured the United States, South America, Alaska, Mexico, and Europe.
