Adrián Paz (Adrian Charquero Paz) is a former professional football player from Uruguay.
Paz was born on 9 September 1968 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He began his career playing for Uruguay and Argentina. His debut game was in April 1992, at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, in which he played for Uruguay in a friendly match against Brazil. Uruguay won the game 1-0, and the winner was scored by Paz.
In September 1994, Ipswich equaled a club record by paying £1 million for Paz and followed up their coup by signing Maurico Tarico, a utility player from Argentina. Paz, who was signed by John Lyall, became the first Uruguayan to play in the English Premier League. Paz was unable to perform up to the manager's satisfaction - he made 18 appearances and scored 1 goal. In the summer of 1995, Paz left Ipswich and went to play in the American Major League.
In January 1996, Major League Soccer began allocating players to its newly established teams. Paz was sent to the Columbus Crew where he played 27 games.
In February 1997, Paz joined the Colorado Rapids in exchange for the first-round selection in the 1997 MLS Supplemental Draft. He was with Colorado for two seasons before being sent to Tianjin Teda in 1999. In his first game against Shanghai Shenhua, Paz suffered a serious injury when Shanghai's defender, Xin Feng, made a tackle on both of his legs. He was on rest until the end of that year.
In 2000, he joined Bella Vista again and went back to China for the third time. After that season, he retired from football.
