Biography
Abdul Haque Faridi (25 May 1903 – 5 February 1996 ) is a Bangladeshi educator and author. In recognition of his contribution to the field of languages, he was awarded a Fellowship of Bangla Academy. His full name is AFM Abdul Haq Faridi.
Early & education life
Faridi was born on 25 May 1903 in Nariya Upazila of Faridpur district. After receiving his primary education in the village, he passed the Entrance from the High Scheme of the New Scheme system in 1923 and Intermediate in 1925. He received a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in 1928 from the Islamic Studies Department of University of Dhakay and a master's degree in 1929. He was awarded a second degree in Persian Literature as a regular examiner while still in the government workplace. He later earned a Diploma in Education from the University of Leeds in Billets and an Advanced Certificate in Education Administration from the American University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Career
Faridi started his career as a lecturer at Chittagong College. Later promoted to Educational Service, he served as Assistant School Inspector of Muslim Education in Bardhamanand retired as Director of Public Education in East Pakistan in 1966. After his retirement, Faridi served as Honorary Treasurer of Dhaka University for 6 years. He was appointed Director General of Islamic Foundation Bangladesh on October 1977 for two years. He was the first to adopt a large-scale Islamic encyclopedia (Islami biswakash) plan from Islamic Foundation. this encyclopedia subsequently takes a real shape.
Death
Abdul Haque Faridi died on 5 February 1996 in Dhaka.
