A. V. Swamy

Alajangi Viswanath Swamy (born 18 July 1929) is an Indian politician from the Odisha state. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha the Upper house of Indian Parliament from Odisha as an Independent candidate.

Swamy was born on 18 July 1929, in Nawarangpur, Odisha, to Viswanath Achary and Alajangi Adilaxmi.

Before entering politics, Swamy was a social worker.

• 2012: Elected to Rajya Sabha

• May 2012 - April 2013: Member, Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
• Aug. 2012 - May 2014: Member, Committee on Water Resources
• May 2013 onwards Member, Committee on Petitions

Swamy married Alajangi Kalavati in June 1949. The couple has two sons and three daughters.
