Biography
A. B. Coady (1850 — 24 April 1918) was an Irish-born American dressmaker active from the 1880s to about 1918 in Brooklyn, New York.
A. B. Coady was born Alice Bergen Coady in 1950 in Ireland. When she was ten, the family relocated to the United States, settling in Brooklyn, New York. Her father, Patrick Bergen, worked as a contractor in Brooklyn.
Growing up, Coady was skilled at dressmaking. She got into the dressmaking business to pay her bills when she was in her thirties.
Coady relocated her business in Brooklyn several times throughout her career. She was a neighbor to another Brooklyn-based well-known dressmaker Herbert Luey (1860-1916).
Death
Coady died on April 24, 1918, at age 68, after a short illness
