In my presidential year have raised funds and created the largest centralized kitchen of its kind in South Mumbai, which is a joint venture with Annamrita, an arm of Iskcon which feeds Mid-day meals to municipal school children.  The kitchen is based in Mahul, size: 12,000 sq.ft. with a capacity of  1.5 Lakh meals per day.  Soft launch done this month and formal inauguration to move to its full utilization will happen early next month.

I am part of the working Advisory Committee of the Annamrita Board, which has headed by Mr. Ajay Piramal & We have on the BOD , Mrs. Archana Chandra (Bain Capital), Mr. Samir Somaiya (Somaiya Hospital), Mrs. Meswani (Reliance Industries), Mr. Kushal Desai (Apar Industries), Mr. Vijay Shah (Piramal Industries) amongst others.

Joined family business 36 years ago and was instrumental in leading the company from a revenue of Rs.50 Crores p.a. to Rs.1200 Crores as a group at peak.

The company maintains its leadership passed down from generation to generation and holds 40% market share for Boiler Quality Plates distribution in India.  The company was also the 1st steel trading company to receive an ISO Certification from Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) in the country.

Along with like-minded group of importers / stockists / consumers, 2 years ago, we founded Steel Users Federation of India (SUFI) with the goal to enhance per capita steel consumption (India is currently amongst the lowest in the developed countries). Primary & secondary manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers, general fabricators, importers, distributors, brokers & consumers, all have found, SUFI is the only common platform which represents national issues and not just regional problems acknowledged by the steel ministry and various forums.  SUFI just signed a MOU with the Bombay Stock Exchange whereby SUFI will guide the creation and operation of steel futures for the first time even on BSE.

Strong distributor-manufacturer partnership for increased per capita steel consumption. Sanjiv Mehta says that, from metro, to high-rise buildings, bridges, and petrochemicals, use of high quality steel plates in infrastructure becomes imperative. It can pave way for a robust infrastructure, which is an aesthetic marvel and at the same time provides efficient services to the people using them.
