Biography

William Lamson (born 1977) is an American installation artist, performance artist, and generative artist. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. His work includes small performances and actions that create objects and images.

Education

Lamson received his BA from Dartmouth College in 2000 and his MFA from Bard College in 2006.

Work

A Line Describing the Sun, 2010

Lamson's works include A Line Describing the Sun, a 366-foot arc carved into the Mojave Desert by sunlight focused through a lens, and Divining Meteorology, a communications tower transformed into a musical instrument, which was exhibited at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in 2011.

Lamson was a featured artist in 20x200, an online gallery dedicated to selling contemporary art at an accessible price.

Lamson is represented by Pierogi gallery in Brooklyn, New York, and Marty Walker gallery in Dallas, Texas.
