Biography

Tyler Howells (born October 20, 1983 in Eden Prairie, Minnesota) is an American ice hockey defenceman. He is currently enrolled at Michigan State University finishing his degree and playing hockey for the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League.

Playing career

Howells played for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League where he recorded 22 goals and 19 assists in a total of 59 games. He was selected to the USHL All-Rookie Team in 2003. Howells then spent four seasons with Michigan State University and served as an alternate captain for the team. Howells was a member of Michigan State's 2007 NCAA Championship team.

Howells turned pro in 2007, joining German 2nd Bundesliga side Heilbronn Falcons before joining the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones. In 2008, Howells moved to Northern Ireland, signing for the EIHL's Belfast Giants.
