Biography
Traci Rhone (born September 25, 1975) is a Jamaican painter, licensed psychotherapist, and film producer based in Miami, Florida. She is the founder and executive producer of an independent film production company in Miami, Florida called Kingston5 Productions.
Traci Rhone was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica to the parents of Trevor D. Rhone and Camella Rhone. Her mom was Miss Universe of Trinidad and Tobago in 1973, and her dad is the famous late playwright and filmmaker Trevor D. Rhone, who co-wrote the international acclaimed film The Harder They Come (1972). Traci Rhone traveled a lot throughout her childhood (Trinidad and Tobago and London) due to her fathers job. At 16, Rhone wanted to leave Jamaica and wanted to live in the United States. So her final year of high school, she studied very hard in getting good grades, that she got accepted into Florida International University.
Originally Rhone wanted to study art, but her father told her it would be a tough lifestyle to maintain a steady income. Instead Rhone majored in Psychology, got her Bachelors in 1996, and has a Masters in Mental Health (2003). Rhone has been a licensed mental health therapist for over 10 years, treating: drug abusers and schizophrenics; and is also a life coach. She began to return to the arts after a series of tragic events in her life, and started painting again. Rhone remembered how much she enjoyed painting and when she was younger, being on set with her father, the whole thrill of producing a film and the production side to it. So it was natural for Rhone to follow the same path as her father of a writer and filmmaker.
On August 1, 2016, Traci Rhone formed Kingston5 Productions an independent film production company in Miami. Kingston5 Productions produces independent films, independent films and documentaries that focus on real people, real stories, and social situations that are often neglected by traditional media outlets.[2] Traci Rhone produces films that are feminist, social & environmental conscious in an effort to remove stigmas within societies and bring communities together.
Rhone lives in Miami, Florida with her eight-year-old daughter Sofia. Rhone also paints and her artwork showcases the same message as her films, in being socially conscious and her art is influenced by surrealism. Her art work has exhibited at the Lowes art festival and can be found at many commercials spaces in Miami.
