Biography

Thomas "Tommy" Goodwill (1894 – 1 July 1916) was an English professional football outside left who played in the Football League for Newcastle United.

Personal life

Prior to becoming a professional footballer, Goodwill worked as a coal miner. He served as a private in the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers during the First World War. He died on the first day of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
