Biography
Todd Stephenson (born 9 June 1988) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Sydney Ice Dogs in the Australian Ice Hockey League.
Playing career
Stephenson first played ice hockey in 2004 when he joined the West Sydney Ice Dogs (now the Sydney Ice Dogs) of the Australian Ice Hockey League. He continued to play for the Ice Dogs until the end of the 2007 AIHL season. Following the end of the 2007 season he moved to Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada and joined the Kamloops Storm of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League for the 2007–08. Stephenson moved back to Australia following the end of the season with the Storm and rejoined the Ice Dogs for the start of the 2008 AIHL season.
During 2006 Stephenson was also a member of the Blacktown Flyers of the New South Wales Ice Hockey Midget League, where he played one game, scoring three goals and recording three assists. In 2008 Stephenson played for the New South Wales state team in the Brown grade (23 & under), playing four games and scoring two points.
Stephenson was first called up to represent Australia in 2004 where he joined national under-18 team to play at the 2004 IIHF World U18 Championships. He continued to play in the under-18 team for the next two years. In 2006 Stephenson also joined the national under-20 team to compete at the 2006 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. The following year Stephenson played for the national under-20 team and also joined the men's senior national team. He has since represented Australia at the Ice Hockey World Championships on four other occasions.
Personal life
Stephenson was born on 9 June 1988 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. His brother Scott also plays ice hockey for the Sydney Ice Dogs and represents Australia at the Ice Hockey World Championships.
