Biography

Terry Frewer is a Canadian composer.

Education

Frewer earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Composition from the University of British Columbia. He did post graduate studies in ethnomusicology, specializing in the music of the First Nations, Japan and India.

Later, he did advanced training in jazz orchestration at the Banff School of Fine Arts.

Career

Frewer began his career playing in bands, songwriting, and working as a studio session player, singer, arranger and producer.

In 2001, he produced songs for soundtracks for the Jack Black, and Jason Biggs starrer "Saving Silverman." In the years 2001-2004, he produced songs for "The Chris Isaak Show'" 

As a guitarist he performed with numerous well-known musicians including Diana Ross and the Supremes, Fifth Dimension, Paul Horn, The Irish Rovers, Dionne Warwick, Gladys Knight, Wolfman Jack, Chaka Khan, Tom Jones, Paul Anka, Natalie Cole, Lou Rawls, Phoebe Snow, and Jerry Lee Lewis.

He has appeared as a vocalist and guitarist with the Vancouver and Edmonton Symphonies as well as with the Vancouver Bach Choir.

He has worked on over 20 television series, as well as 60 feature films and television movies. His score for the feature film 'Head in the Clouds' starring Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz won him much acclaim and a Genie (Canadian Oscar) award as well. 

Awards

Gemini Award nomination, best original music score for a dramatic series, Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, 1996, for Lonesome Dove: The Series

Gemini Award nomination, best original music score for a dramatic series, 1998, for "Buryin' Sam," Dead Man's Gun.

Gemini award for his work on 'Over Canada' documentary for PBS.

He has been nominated for several Geminis, has 3 Leo Awards and a US regional Emmy.
