Biography

Sim Chee Keong (simplified Chinese: 沈志强; traditional Chinese: 沈志強; pinyin: Shěn Zhì Qiáng; born 13 May 1982), known professionally as Steven Sim, is a Malaysian politician from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and current Member of Parliament for Bukit Mertajam constituency. He is currently the Senior Executive Officer of Penang Institute, a public policy think-tank based in Penang, Malaysia.
In January 2011, he was appointed as a Councillor of the Seberang Perai Municipal Council, one of the largest municipalities in Malaysia.
He writes regularly for Penang Monthly (formerly Penang Economic Monthly) as well as contributes opinion pieces to prominent Malaysian online news portals such as Malaysiakini and the Malaysian Insider. He is also the author of "The Audacity to Think: An Invitation to Rethink Politics".
In 2012, Steven Sim was named as a Young Global Leader of the Geneva-based World Economic Forum.
