Biography
Steve Patton (born December 27, 1953) is the former head coach of the Gardner–Webb University college football team. Patton has over two decades of collegiate coaching experience including fourteen seasons as head coach with GWU. On December 3, 2010, the school announced it would not be renewing the contract of Patton or his staff.
Playing history
Patton played football at the University of Alabama before transferring to Furman University where he also competed in tennis. He graduated from Furman in 1977.
Coaching history
Before arriving at Gardner–Webb, Patton served as head coach at Mars Hill College and North Greenville University.
