Somasundara Bharathiar (born July 27, 1879 - dead December 14, 1959) is Tamil researcher, writer, professor and lawyer. He has participated in Anti-Hindi agitations of Tamil Nadu. He also headed the abolition of untouchability movement in Madurai.
Satyananda Somasundaran is the birth name of Somasundara Bharathiar. Born to Subramaniya Nayakkar (Ettappa Pillai) - Muthammal on July 27, 1879 in Ettayapuram. He because friend with Subramania Bharati, because Subramania Bharati's father worked with Somasudara Bharathi's father. Both Somasundaran and Subramaniyam went to a poetry competition. Both their poems were selected as best poems. Both were given the title Bharathi.
