Biography
Ronald L. Simons (born December 18, 1946) is an American sociologist, criminologist, and Distinguished Research Professor of Sociology at the University of Georgia.
Career
Simons' first academic post was at Iowa State University, which he joined as an assistant professor in 1976. He was appointed a full professor there in 1986, and remained on the faculty there until 2002, when he became a professor of sociology at the University of Georgia. From 2005 to 2013, and then again from 2014 to the present, he was a Distinguished Research Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Georgia. From 2013 to 2014, he was a Foundation Professor in Arizona State University's School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
