Robert Shapard, Ph.D., is a former managing editor of Western Humanities Review. His short fiction has been published in literary magazines, and he has received a G.E./C.C.L.M. Award for Younger Writers. He teaches literature and fiction writing at the University of Hawaii. Robert Shapard has been the editor with his colleague James Thomas of a number of short-short story and flash fiction anthologies, including Sudden Fiction, Sudden Fiction International and Sudden Fiction (Continued). Shapard wrote "The Remarkable Reinvention of Very Short Fiction," which serves as the introduction to a special section on flash fiction for the September–October 2012 issue of World Literature Today.
