Biography

Ravindra Mahajani is a veteran Marathi Film actor & director. He is well known for his contribution for Marathi Cinema. From the late seventies to the mid eighties, Mahajani was the reigning superstar of the Marathi film industry and was once known as "Vinod Khanna of the Marathi film industry" due to his handsome personality and good looks. In fact it was because of his resemblance to Vinod Khanna, director N. Chandra wanted to cast Mahajani in the lead role in his 1986 film Ankush. Mahajani declined and the role later went to Nana Patekar.


Mahajani has many romantic songs picturized on him like ha sagar kinara, sumbaran gao deva, phite andharache jaale, his film Devta is very popular amongst his rural fans where he played the rule of decoit who converts into a common man. He is well known for his roles in Duniya Kari Salam (1979), Mumbai cha Fauzdar (1984), Zoonj (1989), Kalat Nakalat (1990), Aaram haram ahe was a major hit while laxmi chi pavale was a blockbuster hit of his career. After long gap from acting he made comeback with 2015 film kay rao tumhi. He was style icon of Marathi cinema in 80s. His son Gashmir Mahajani is also popular Marathi actor.
