Biography
Ralph Hiscox CBE (1907 – 1970), was a British insurance underwriter, a founding partner of Roberts & Hiscox in 1946, and the chairman of Lloyd's of London 1967-68.
Hiscox served in the RAF from 1939 to 1946, during World War II. He was awarded the military OBE and twice mentioned in dispatches. He ended as Group Captain of 600 (night-fighter) squadron.
He was awarded a CBE.
His son Robert Hiscox took over after his sudden death in 1970, with Anthony Roberts the other co-founder, moving aside, and was the chairman of Hiscox for 43 years.
