Biography
R. A. Gani (1927 – 15 January 2016) was a Bangladeshi engineer and politician from Gaibandha belonging to Bangladesh Nationalist Party. He was a member of the Jatiya Sangsad. He also served as the state minister of Ministry of Science and Technology. He was a member of the standing committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Biography
Gani was born on 1927 at Bosniapara in Sadullapur of Gaibandha. He completed matriculation from Gaibandha Local Boys' School. Later, he completed higher secondary studies from Presidency College. He completed graduation from Ahsanullah Engineering College in civil engineering in 1952.
Gani founded an engineering consultant farm named Gani Bangla Limited in 1953. Then, he completed postgraduate studies from California in 1963. Later, he received doctorate degree from a university of Washington. He took part in the Language Movement, Mass Uprising and Liberation War of Bangladesh.
Gani was elected as a member of the Jatiya Sangsad from Rangpur-19 in 1979. He was appointed as the state minister of Ministry of Science and Technology during the reign of Ziaur Rahman. He was a member of the standing committee of Bangladesh Nationalist Party.
Gani was married to Begum Hosne Ara Gani. They had three daughters and a son.
Gani died on 15 January 2016 at Square Hospital in Dhaka the age of 89.
