Biography

Phillip Bentz was mayor of Murray, Utah from 1910 to 1912. Bentz was born in Washington Court House, Ohio October 1, 1860. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 40 years and as the Murray station superintendent. He was an officer in the local Fraternal Order of Eagles.

During his time as mayor, Murray completed its plans for a water system within Murray. Murray City also acquired the South Cottonwood Ward cemetery from the LDS Church, and made it the municipal cemetery.
