Philip Rodrigs is the Founder, Director, and CEO of Raynar Portfolio Management. Established in January 2020, Raynar Portfolio Management seeks to enable great client outcomes by searching high and low for great investments. As a chartered financial analyst, Rodrigs has amassed over twenty years of pertinent experience as an investor on the public markets in the U.K., including multi-award-winning stints managing some of the largest funds dedicated to investments in small companies. Rodrigs entered the investment management workforce in 2002, worked his way up quickly and within four years became Fund Manager of Investec’s UK Smaller Companies Fund. Rodrigs grew that Fund more than sixfold by 2014. Rodrigs also transformed the performance profile of Investec’s UK Alpha Fund, creating a platform for the Fund to subsequently exceed £1bn
Between 2014 and 2018, Rodrigs held various assignments for R&M Asset Management. There, he conceived of the company’s Micro Cap Investment Trust, spearheaded its 2014 IPO, and oversaw the significant performance and return of capital. Additionally, he helmed R&M’s UK Smaller Companies strategy, taking an initial value of £150m and growing it to surpass £1bn in only four years. Implementing a Total Return Swap mechanism for the UK Dynamic Fund, Rodrigs also leveraged growth of that All-Cap strategy from an initial £8m to £350m.
Rodrigs was raised in Nottingham, U.K. where he had the privilege of attending the local private school thanks to government financial assistance. Rodrigs studied economics and management at Lincoln College, Oxford University where he made it a goal of his to run his own business in the future. Philip is currently a Portfolio Manager at his self-created Raynar Portfolio Management which is a trading name of Met Facilities LLP authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN: 587084) Rodrigs currently resides in London and enjoys global travel, driving, skiing, and scuba diving.
