Patrick Robert Smith (born 4 August 1964) is an American film and television actor known for his roles in NYPD Blue (2001-2004), General Hospital (2015), and Goliath(2016).

Given his imposing stature and rough looks, he is often cast as a cop/tough guy.

Early life

Patrick Robert Smith was born on August 4, 1964, in Phoenix, Arizona.

Career

Patrick Robert Smith made his acting debut in 1993 in "The Iceman" episode of TV series Reasonable Doubts (with Michael Holden). In the same year, he was seen in a minor, supporting role in director David S. Ward's romance/action The Program, starring James Caan and Halle Berry.

After appearing in Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story (1995), Melrose Place (1998), A League of Old Men (1998), Joy Ride (2001), and The Agency (2002), he landed a recurring role in the acclaimed TV series NYPD Blue. He was seen playing the role of a police officer in 6 episodes of the series during the years 2001-2004.

In 2015, Smith was played the role of "Bruce" in 9 episodes of the TV series General Hospital, with Maurice BenardRebecca Budig, and Teresa Castillo. The following year, he was seen as "Rand" in the episode "Kanaka Hahai" of the TV series Hawaii Five-0. Also in 2016, he had the role of "Officer Sanders" in the TV series Goliath.

Most recently, in May 2020, Smith was seen as "Gabe" in "Powerless" episode of the TV series 9-1-1. The episode was directed by [Kristen Reidel](Kristen Reidel) and starred Angela BassettPeter Krause, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, among others.

Smith has also appeared in films like Major League II (with Dennis Haysbert and Eric Bruskotter), and The Holy Man (with Charlton Barton and Javier Calderon).

Personal life

Smith is married to actress Julie St. Claire since 1995. The couple has a son, Jason Smith.
