Nancy L. Thompson is an American biological physicist. In 2005, she was named Fellow of the American Physical Society. In 2014, she was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

She graduated from Guilford College, and University of Michigan.
She taught at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
