Biography

Mona Walter (born 1973) is a Somali-born Swedish activist and debater. She was born in Mogadishu, Somalia and fled to Sweden as a refugee in 1994. Walter lectures about her experience dealing with Islam on her social media accounts and in published articles. She has been criticized for converting from Islam to Christianity. In August 2015, Walter and a team of reporters from SVT news programme Aktuellt were attacked when they walked through Rinkeby, eggs were thrown at the SVT car. She later accused the channel of censoring the segment that was broadcast on Aktuellt, and not telling what really happened during the attack. Despite threats, Walter has announced she will hold a speech at Rinkeby square in October 2015. She has been criticized for several debate articles, in which she has criticized Islam. Walter has also been noted internationally.
