Biography

Mohamed Hijri is a Canadian biologist and professor.

Hijri received a B.Sc. degree in Cell Biology in 1994 and an M.Sc. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology, in 1995, from the University of Burgundy, Dijon, France. In 1999, he earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology at the same university.

After his education, he was a postdoctoral fellow with the Sanders Lab in Switzerland. He continued as a postdoctoral fellow until 2005, after which he moved to Montréal, Canada to teach biological sciences at the Montreal University. He started as an assistant professor in 2005, and currently, he is a Full Professor since June 2016.

His main areas of research are Molecular genetics, genomics, and evolution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF,) Environmental genomics, and biodiversity of soil microbes.
