Biography

Marc J. Cohen is a Trustee for the State University of New York, and President of the Student Assembly of the State University of New York. Cohen was first elected in April of 2016 and was re-elected for a second term in April of 2017 . As President of the Student Assembly, he represents the 600,000 students across SUNY's 64 campuses. He is the youngest serving member on the Board.

Trustee

By virtue of his role as President of the SUNY Student Assembly, Cohen serves as a voting member on the SUNY Board of Trustees. He has spoken extensively on several controversial issues facing higher education in New York State and across the country including sanctuary campuses , affordability and debt , diversity, equity, and inclusion , mental health services , and ban the box.

Higher Education Services Corportion

Cohen sits as a voting member on the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC). HESC is New York State's higher education student financial aid agency and is responsible for administering New York's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP).
