Maman(s) was presented at TIFF in 2015. It was the awarded the Short Cuts award for Best Short Film. The jury noted the complex nature of polygamy, and the human conflict that arises. The films plot centers on Aida, an eight-year-old girl, who is adjusting to the introduction of her father's second wife. Maïmouna Doucouré was inspired by her own experiences with polygamy as a young child.
