Louis Byrd is a former mayor of Lynwood, California, and a convicted felon.
Byrd was elected to the Lynwood city council in November 1991, and served multiple terms as mayor.
He was recalled on September 25, 2007, along with Fernando Pedroza, Leticia Vasquez, and Alfreddie Johnson, for numerous reasons, mainly because of their support of a redevelopment project called Angeles Fields that would result in the demolition of several houses and businesses in an area between Atlantic Avenue, Imperial Highway, and the 105 and 710 freeways, to make way for a football stadium.
Byrd was convicted of illegally boosting his city salary on August 1, 2012, and was sentenced to six years in federal prison.
