Lippmann Moses Büschenthal
German poet
Lippmann Moses Büschenthal (1784 in Strassbourg – 27 December 1818) was a German rabbi, poet and dramatist. His biography is not well known, and conflicting statements regarding his life are found; he appears to have lived in Breslau from c. 1814, and moving to Berlin, where he may have become chief rabbi, shortly before his death.
He published mainly poetry, including Hebrew translations of German poetry, and one dramatic work. He also wrote for the journals Sulamith, Jedidja and Rheinische Blätter.
A collection of short tales was published posthumously.
