Biography

Lee Lyang(korean:이량, hanja:李梁, 1519–1583) was a Korean Joseon Dynasty politician and a powerful man from the royal family Jeonju Lee clean's. A descendant of Prince Hyoryeong and uncle of Queen Insun, his courtesy name was Gonggeo(공거 公擧).

Life

Lee Lyang was a member of the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty, he was the great-great-great-grandson of Prince Hyoryeong. and his sister Lady Lee married to Shim Gang. Their daughter Queen Insun married to Prince Gyungwon, son of King Jungjong and later King Myungjong. In his early years he studied at Chung Sa-ryong's private academies.

In 1546 he passed to Saengwon and Chinsa exam. Also he was special recruitment appointed to bureaucrat. But he was passed to Imperial examination in 1552. He worked in a Joseon dynasty government office inspection department, the opinion department.

In 1550, King Myungjong was tension was Yun Won-hyung's take of government power and Lee Lyang was promoted rapidly under the auspices of King Myungjongs. But he was promoted to second level bureaucrat after only two years. But, he was illegally accumulate wealth. In 1563 he was ousted from Joseon Dynasty's governments.
