Kent Douglas Paynter (born April 17, 1965) is a Canadian former ice hockey player. Paynter played in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1985 to 1998.
Selected 159th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Paynter played for the Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa Senators. He was selected sixteenth overall in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft to become an original member of the Ottawa Senators. In total, Paynter played 37 regular season games, scoring one goal and three assists, collecting 69 penalty minutes.
