Biography

Kenji Kamiyama (上山 健二, Kamiyama Kenji)' is a Japanese businessman. As of 2015 he is Managing Executive Officer and COO of World Co., Ltd.

Education

Kamiyama received a bachelor's degree in economics from Tokyo University in March 1988. He received his master's degree in business from the University of Michigan in May 1994.

Career

In 1988 Kamiyama started his career with a bank that became part of the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, where he remained until 1999. He became president and CEO of JAC Co. Ltd from 1999 until 2002. In 2002 he moved to the supermarket chain Nakasakiya and was president and CEO there until 2008.

He joined Gaba in October 2008 as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Managing Executive Officer. He became President, Representative Director and CEO succeeding Chutatsu Aono on March 26, 2009.

After Kamiyama took charge of Gaba, there was a lot of cost-cutting activity, which generated some discontent from Gaba's staff.

After Gaba was sold by Daiwa Securities to Nichii Gakkan Kamiyama stepped down from his roles as Chief Executive Officer, President, and Representative Director on December 5, 2011. He was succeeded by Bruce Anderson.

He was Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer at Gurunavi (Gourmet Navigator) Inc from May 2012.
