Biography
Ken Murphy (born 1966/1967) is an Irish business executive. He is the chief executive-designate (CEO) of Tesco, and will succeed Dave Lewis in 2020.
Murphy was born in Cork, Ireland. He earned a bachelor's degree from University College Cork, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is a qualified accountant.
Murphy started his career with UniChem, a drugs wholesaler which became part of Boots UK. After Walgreens took over Boots in 2014, he rose to become chief commercial officer and president of global brands at the parent company, Walgreens Boots Alliance. The 52 year-old Irishman, who is a qualified accountant, has worked in health and beauty retail all his life.
On 3 October 2019, it was announced that Murphy would succeed Dave Lewis as CEO of Tesco.
Murphy is married with three children.
