Kayna Whitworth

Kayna Whitworth (born July 4, 1982) is an American journalist, currently a Network Correspondent for ABC News in Los Angeles. She had worked in Bend, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Tucson, Arizona; and Boston, Massachusetts; before joining ABC News in Los Angeles in 2015.

Early life and education

Kayna Whitworth was born, Kayna Logan Whitworth, on July 4, 1982, in Aurora, Colorado, to parents Rocky and Mary Whitworth. She was raised in Aurora with her younger brother, Kellen Whitworth.

She attended Grandview High School, Aurora, Colorado and graduated in 2001. The following year she enrolled with Colorado State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies, in 2005. While at the university, she interned with Fox Sports network in 2004.

Career

After graduating from the Colorado University, Whitworth started her journalism career in September 2005, working as a reporter then an anchor at KTVZ in Bend, Oregon. She left KTVZ in November 2008 to become a reporter and anchor at KBOI-TV in Boise, Idaho. After a two-year stint with KBOI, in late 2010, she moved to Tucson, Arizona to work as an anchor at KOLD-TV (CBS.) In December 2012, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to work with WHDH as a weekday morning anchor.

In June 2015, she joined ABC News and became their network correspondent, based in Los Angeles.

Personal life

Whitworth started dating sports reporter for WHDH, Rhett Lewis, while they were working in Boston, Massachusetts. Later, he took a job at the NFL Network in Los Angeles. The couple were married on May 15, 2015, in a ceremony held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
