Biography

Jyoti Prasad Yadav (born 26 September 1977), in Allahabad is an Indian first class cricketer. A left-handed middle order batsman, Yadav plays for and captains Uttar Pradesh. He made his first class debut in 1994/95 playing for Uttar Pradesh against Kerala in the KD Singh Babu Stadium, Lucknow. He made his First Class limited overs début playing for Uttar Pradesh against Haryana in the LB Stadium in Hyderabad in 1994/95. He was selected in the Indian squad for the Sahara Cup in Canada in September 1998.
In John Wright's Indian Summers, a memoir of his time as Indian coach, Wright recounts the story that Yadav was the beneficiary of mistaken identity - the selectors had meant to select his namesake, Jai Prakash Yadav. Jyoti "wore a nonplussed expression throughout the trip." Yadav never went on to represent India.
