Juan Bautista Vitón (1780-1868) was a Spanish soldier, lieutenant in the Cuerpo de Voluntarios Artilleros de la Unión, Volunteer Corps of Artillery (Buenos Aires).

Biography

Vitón was born in Cádiz, son of Ramón Vitón and María Isabel Santibañez. His father's family was originally from France. He had arrived around the year 1800 to Buenos Aires. In 1806 and 1807, he served as Lieutenant of artillery during the British invasions of the River Plate. After the May Revolution, Vitón was confined to La Rioja Province.

Juan Bautista Vitón was married to Margarita López de Barrios Chiclana, niece of Feliciano Antonio Chiclana.
