José "Peping" Galvez Padilla Sr. (October 30, 1888 - August 13, 1945), also known by his screen name of Mario de Cordova, was a Filipino actor and politician.

Life

According to his grandson, Robin Padilla, the Padilla family ancestry may be traced to Seville and Toledo.

Padilla served as Representative of the 1st district of Bulacan from 1919–1928. He becamae the Governor of Bulacan from 1928 to 1931, and again from 1934 to 1937.

Padilla's offspring have become famous in the field of showbussiness, politics, sports and others. Among them, actors Jose (Pempe) Padilla Jr. and Carlos Padilla Sr., actresses Cristina Aragon and Pilar Padilla-Fernadez, film director Consuelo "Ateng" Padilla-Osorio, diplomat and actor Amado Cortez, and Casimero (Roy) Padilla Sr., former Governor of Camarines Norte.
