Biography

John 'Tull' Dunne, Irish Gaelic footballer, coach and administrator, 26 December 1911 - 12 May 1990.
Born in Brackernagh, Ballinasloe, County Galway, Dunne was the son of William Dunne, a carpenter, and Katie Donelan. He was educated at the local Christian Brothers school. After he left school he obtained employment in the town post office.
Dunne became a member of St Grellan's GFC where he played midfield and as centre-forward. He was a member of the team that won the county championship of 1929, and the Galway junior team that won the all-Ireland in 1930. He became a member of the senior team in 1932.
