Biography
John Maclachlan, 23rd of Maclachlan (January 1, 1859 - September 18, 1942) was the clan chief of Clan Maclachlan, a commander of the Argyllshire Volunteer Regiment and a member of the Royal Company of Archers.
Personal Life
He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England. He held the position of 23rd Chief of the Clan Lachlan from in 1881. He was admitted to the Royal Company of Archers in 1882. He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Argyllshire. He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Argyllshire. He gained the rank of commander between 1916 and 1919 in the Argyllshire Volunteer Regiment.
He married Frances Eva Marjorie Macpherson, daughter of Albert Cameron MacPherson of Cluny Macpherson, 17th Chief and Frances Eliza Raynsford Addington, on 26 February 1919. He died on 18 September 1942 at age 83.
