Biography

John Brill (born December 3, 1970) is a retired American professional ice hockey defenseman.

Career

Brill was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, going 58th overall. Several months after being drafted, Brill started his career as a member of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers ice hockey team, playing with the Gophers from 1989 until 1993. Brill also assumed the role of alternate captain during his senior year. Despite spending several season in the Penguins' system, Brill would never play an NHL game with the Penguins. After graduation, Brill spent the next three season splitting time between the ECHL and the IHL.

Brill started the 1996–97 season with HK MK Bled, a Slovenian ice hockey team who played in second-tier Slohokej Liga. He would later finish the season with HC Fassa. Brill remained with the team until 1999.

Brill finished his career with the Cardiff Devils of the Ice Hockey Superleague, scoring 5 goals and 16 points in 42 games. Brill retired after the completion of the 1999-2000 season.
