Biography

John Beauchamp (1592–1655) was one of the influential members of the Plymouth Company.

John Beauchamp was the son of Thomas Beauchamp of Cosgrove and Dorothy (Clark) Beauchamp. His Norman French last name was pronounced as the British Anglicized "Bee-chum." See: Anglicisation of names. He was born about 1592 in England. On December 27, 1615 he married Alice Freeman. They had seven children. He died at Reigate in about 1655.

His brother-in-law was Edmund Freeman, one of the founders of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Among his descendants are Jereboam O. Beauchamp, Noah Beauchamp, major league professional baseball player, Jim Beauchamp, and one presidential candidate, James "Champ" Clark.
