Habibullah Mir (Kashmiri: حبیبالله مير, died 11 January 2013) was a Kashmiri Indian politician who was assassinated in January 2013. He was the sarpanch (elected chief executive) of Goripora village in Baramulla district of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was reported that his assassination was part of a campaign by extremist militants to eliminate elected local officials in Jammu and Kashmir state. He was affiliated with the Indian National Congress party. Habibullah Mir was a member of the 32-member coordinating executive team of the All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference and his killing resulted in calls for the state government to provide better security for the estimated 33,000 elected local government politicians in Jammu and Kashmir.
