Biography

Genki Yamamoto (山本 元喜, Yamamoto Genki, born 19 November 1991) is a Japanese professional racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team Kinan Cycling Team.

Career

He won the third stage of the Tour de Hokkaido twice while still a student at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya, first in 2010 and again in 2013. He won the Under-23 Japanese National Road Race Championships twice in a row in 2010 and 2011. He joined Vini Fantini–Nippo in 2014 and stayed on as it became a Professional Continental team starting in the 2015 season. He was named in the start list for the 2016 Giro d'Italia. He transferred to the Kinan Cycling Team for the 2017 season.
